The EPA is promoting tougher national emission standards for hazardous air pollutants for existing stationary spark ignition reciprocating internal combustion engines. Alternative fuels offer a cleaner environment and EFI offers engine control systems to meet this increasing demand.
The R16 Engine Control Unit was developed for industrial internal combustion engines running on natural gas. The ECU supports engines both naturally aspirated and forced induction with cylinders up to 16 and displacements from 1200 to 20,698 ci.
These engines range from 150 to 5000 hp and operate at speeds of 500 to 1800 rpm.
The R16 ECU is fully sequential and supports up to 16 high or low impedance injectors with up to 8 amps drive current. The ECU also supports up to 8 logic coils.
A Drive by Wire output is available for electronic throttle body control. The speed request can be 0-5 volt or be a 4-20mA signal with maximum and idle speeds user definable. The DBW utilizes a custom PID controller to optimize performance.
