PDRA Pro Nitrous star Lizzy Musi recorded the quickest pass in history by a nitrous oxide-assisted, full-bodied doorslammer on Sunday at the Maryland International Raceway’s Door Wars with a 3.631-second, 205.86 mph blast through the eighth-mile.
Lizzy, the daughter of famed champion drag racer and engine builder Pat Musi, was booked into the annual Door Wars show in a match race with fellow female PDRA standout Melanie Salemi, who brought her 3.7-second, supercharged Pro Boost car out to earn some bragging rights. But on this particular run, her 3.747-second lap was no match for the Al-Anabi Performance-backed, “King Kong 6” Dodge Dart as it charged into uncharted territory.
Lizzy was a stout .921 to sixty-feet and a 2.433 to 330-feet on her record lap.
Musi battled fellow Al-Anabi Performance nitrous runner Mahana Al-Naemi throughout the winter in Bahrain as they traded the all-time nitrous doorslammer record back and forth, with Al-Naemi bookending the Middle Eastern season with his crushing 3.643 in early February.
Owing to the kind of horsepower Pat is producing, Lizzy’s machine has made a living with the front end hiked in the air during its stay in Bahrain and the opening to the PDRA season, often drifting out of the groove in the process, but her monster 3.63 lap is a real indicator of what’s possible when the candles remain lit and the slicks smack-dab in the groove all the way to the stripe. With that, little remains before we see a nitrous car in the 3.50s.
The Fuel injection, Ignition and Nitrous systems are all controlled by the EFI Technology R8 ECU.
