EFI Technology offers a wide range of ECU's for the vintage racer. The R8 ECU is designed for engines running 8 injectors and 8 ignitions, and the R16 ECU is designed for fully sequential systems with 16 injectors.
A range of replacement ECU products are available for the Cosworth DFV, DFX and DFS engines and also for the later model XB and XD Indy car engines. Custom harnesses and Ignition systems are also available.
EFI Technology was involved in the CART series for several years as a data acquisition supplier.
Teams selected the Level 4 advanced data logger for its data system combined with an EFI steering wheel dash for driver instrumentation. An EFI multi-rate telemetry system was selected to handle the transmission of real time data to the pits.
The Cosworth XD engine used from 1996 to 1999 is now popular amongst vintage racers. Cosworth contracted EFI to make a custom ECU to run the engine. The ECU is based on the R16 ECU with 16 injector drivers, 8 ignitions with boost control.
The Indy Racing League was founded in 1994 and is an American-based auto racing sanctioning body for Championship auto racing.
The original engines used were the Nissan Infiniti and Oldsmobile Aurora V8's. EFI Technology supplied its R8 ECU and 8 channel multi-coil CDI ignitions for both of these combinations.
The advanced Level 4 logger, steering wheel dash and real time telemetry system was also used by several teams.
The VR1 is a compact single output Capacitive Discharge Ignition system that is designed as a direct replacement unit for the Lucas ignition box used on all Cosworth engines.
The Ignition is designed to be installed inside the stock Lucas housing and features built in voltage regulator and adjustable rev-limiter.
ECU's are also available as direct replacement for the Cosworth ECU's used on vintage DFV, DFR and DFZ V8 engines.
The Nissan GTP ZX-Turbo was a series of racing cars developed for Nissan Motors by Electramotive Engineering to compete in the IMSA GT Championship running from 1985 to 1990
The GTP ZX was powered by and extensively modified turbocharged VG30ET V6 engine producinmg in excess of 700 horsepower.
A custom version of the EFI R8 ECU is now used as a direct replacement for the original electronics package. The R8 ECU has fully sequential fuel and igniton with lambda and boost control.
In 1990 EFI was contracted by TRD to develop an ECU for its 503E engine program. The 503E was one of the most successful Toyota race engines ever built producing amazing results on the track.
The All American Racers, Eagle MKIII dominated in GTP setting records, including 21 of 27 races entered and an IMSA record 14 straight victories.
